They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing. (Psalm 92:14)
Our Programs
We at Bethel Society desire to have a church situated on the grounds, from which ministry will flow to the residents and to others. We plan to have an open pulpit so that evangelical churches can minister with us and to us.
Our desire as a non-profit, missional organization is that the elderly residents join with us in a biblical approach to service, preaching, teaching, evangelism. Mentoring, follow-up, inclusive within a ministry structure. We believe it is important for each one to minister in their strengths, abilities, and giftings. We desire that the residents themselves lead and participate in prayer meetings, worship services, and ministry. In doing so, they will be encouraged and supported to continue to live in faith, hope and love through their relationship with Jesus.
From within this community of elderly believers, we envision that the residents will form a core leadership team to oversee the spiritual life of the community. The leadership team will have two major responsibilities:
• To direct the Bethel Society in the areas of its church life: preaching, teaching, worship leadership, etc.
• To plan for and facilitate the meeting of the spiritual needs of the residents.
Purpose for Bethel Society
• To provide permanent housing for the elderly who need it
• To provide temporary housing for the elderly who need rehabilitation or a place to stay when extended family is traveling
• To provide a place of ministry for the elderly residents, as well as to give ministry opportunities to evangelical churches in Lebanon
Current Programs of Bethel Society
Each year we have a retreat. The goals for this retreat are prayerfully three-fold: 1.) to be spiritually refreshed (2.) to evaluate the previous year of ministry (3.) to plan for the following year.
Each day, except Sunday, every volunteer receives an email with spiritual encouragement. The purpose of these emails is to encourage the volunteers towards prayer for Bethel Society and the elderly in our community.
Volunteers visit the elderly in their homes. Because the elderly adults are often lonely and isolated, these visits are meant to encourage them by praying with them and reading Scripture. They also provide opportunities to serve them in their areas of need.
Volunteers also visit other nursing homes throughout Beirut and her surrounding communities.
We plan to inaugurate a national Grandparent’s Day, "Teta & Jedo", in Lebanon the first Day of Fall.
